Description: I had an idea to create a set of "Imaginationary" Violin Concertos based on different magical creatures, inspired by the premise of the film IF (2024). This is the only piece that came out of that, a short ride for violin and orchestra in a similar vein of John Adams' "Short Ride in a Fast Machine." I created two different YouTube videos for this project: the one below is my usual score-video, but I also tried my hand at animating a fake video game and creating kids' drawings on my iPad of character sprites, objects, and HUD UI. You can find this video here.

The brass introduce the solo violin's cadenza, of which it rambles on for a bit. When it finishes, the "short ride" begins, the violin playing rhythmically while the strings keep time in a staccato manner. We also hear a central motif of the piece in the bassoons. The woodwinds and brass transition into a central section, where material gets passed around the orchestra. The bassoons' melody is extended by the clarinets and solo viola, and then by the flutes. After an orchestral rise, we reach the climax, where the brass triumphantly play the motif in half time. In the penultimate bar, the orchestra ducks down to allow the solo violin, alongside the solo viola, to play a passage similar to the opening cadenza to end the piece.
