Midwinter's Night (2013)

• Instrumentation: Piano, string quartet, sleigh bells.

• Description: This was a piece I played with my friends for a performance contest at school (we had two people per part). Set in F minor, it’s a slow piece that builds as it goes, changing keys via the Circle of Fifths constantly. The focus constantly switches between the piano and the strings, and tries to capture the image of winter. I recorded this piece with several of my friends at Waubonsie Valley High School to audition for the Christmas concert that year.
